The International Human Rights Conference is taking place in the capital of Ukraine

In Kyiv started International human rights conference “Decade 2014-2024: Reclaiming human rights. Preserving democracy”. The event gathered representatives of state bodies, international organizations, ambassadors, ombudsmen, human rights defenders and experts from dozens of countries around the world. The conference will be an important platform for discussing human rights violations, particularly in the context of the war in Ukraine, and finding ways to overcome them.

The main goal of the conference is to draw the attention of the international community to the large-scale human rights violations that have taken place in Ukraine since 2014, especially after the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia. The event is also designed to unite the efforts of various countries, organizations and experts to ensure legal protection for victims and strengthen democracy.

The solemn opening of the conference was marked by an online speech by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, who emphasized the importance of international support in the fight for human rights and the preservation of democratic values. Zelensky called on the participants of the event to join forces to bring to justice those guilty of war crimes and ensure justice for the victims of aggression.

During the conference, panel discussions, speeches by human rights defenders and representatives of civil society are planned, who will share their experience and developments in the field of human rights protection. Special attention will be paid to the challenges faced by Ukraine during the war and ways to overcome the long-term consequences of human rights violations.
