The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra made a statement regarding Klopotenko’s culinary show

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra published an official statement regarding the filming of a project dedicated to traditional Ukrainian Christmas dishes. The project was organized by chef Evgeny Klopotenko and the author of the program “Real Story” Akim Galimov.

“We want to emphasize: the event was held in the Dining Room, which is a historical part of the architectural complex and since its foundation at the end of the 19th century served as a place for a joint meal. This hall is not a temple and has always been used for celebrations: spiritual, cultural and educational. This fully complies with the current legislation and requirements for the exploitation of historical and cultural monuments, and also does not harm the painting of the 20th century in any way.” – the statement says.

The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra notes that the Dining Hall is a historical part of the architectural complex, but is not a temple. The premises have always been used for ceremonial events of a spiritual, cultural and educational nature, which corresponds to the current legislation and rules for the operation of historical monuments. At the same time, no damage was done to the painting of the 20th century.

The general director of the National Reserve “Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra” Maksym Ostapenko expressed his regret that the event could cause misunderstandings and hurt the religious feelings of believers.

“The Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is a sacred place for every Ukrainian, and we always strive to maintain a balance between the preservation of spiritual heritage and its popularization,” he emphasized.
