The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine signed a contract with ICEYE to obtain detailed satellite images of the front

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, with the assistance of the German government, signed an agreement with ICEYE, a leading manufacturer of SAR satellites. About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense.

“We are expanding our intelligence capabilities thanks to cooperation with international partners. The Ministry of Defense signed a strategically important contract with ICEYE“, said Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov.

This agreement will provide our military with access to high-quality space imagery covering the entire battlefield. The command will be able to independently select priority areas for observation and quickly receive actual data through the ICEYE satellite network.

The minister noted that this agreement was made possible thanks to the support of the German government and Rheinmetall, which acted as a partner in the implementation of the contract.

“We are grateful to our partners for their support and trust. By introducing advanced space intelligence technologies, we are creating a technological advantage that increases combat capability and protects our military“, Umerov added.

We will remind that in 2022, more than 600 million hryvnias, saved thanks to the “People’s Bayraktar” action, were directed to the purchase of the ICEYE space satellite for the needs of the Ukrainian army. During the first five months of its use, Ukrainian scouts conducted almost a thousand radar reconnaissance sessions to identify the locations of enemy units.
