Representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Chernyak reported, that for the control of the islands on the Dnieper there are continuous hostilities.
“The situation on the islands remains tense, of course. This is a huge area of responsibility, it is a territory that must be controlled by specially trained, trained people, and they must have appropriate support. Accordingly, whoever controls the Dnipro Islands, to some extent controls this or that shore. There are constant combat clashes for these islands, constant battles for these islands”, the message says.
According to Andrii Chernyak, the Security and Defense Forces of Ukraine “stand firm and prevent the enemies from recapturing the territory they are constantly trying to seize every day.”
The islands in the Dnieper delta, which actually serve as a demarcation between the right-bank and left-bank parts of the Kherson region, are in the so-called “gray zone” of hostilities. Russian troops seek to establish control over these territories in order to gain a foothold on the right bank.
We will remind that in December 2024, the Russian military made an attempt to land on Kozatskyi Island near Kherson, however, according to the information of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this operation ended unsuccessfully.
