The GUR is already working on lists of prisoners for the exchange agreed upon with the Russian Federation in Istanbul
Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Vadym Skibitsky reported, that the GUR is already working on forming lists of prisoners for exchange in the “1000 by 1000” format, which was agreed upon during the negotiations with Russia in Istanbul.
According to Skibitskyi, in the issue of prisoner exchange, the GUR has “normal experience of working with the Russian side.”
“We will do everything to ensure that every citizen of Ukraine returns home. And, accordingly, we will continue our work with the Russian side.” – said Vadym Skibitskyi.
We will remind that on May 16, a meeting of the delegations of Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul. Representatives of Turkey also participated in the negotiations. The Ukrainian delegation was headed by the Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov, and included the first deputy heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Security Service of Ukraine, State Security Service and other representatives.
After the negotiations, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umyerov said that the parties discussed the exchange of prisoners and a possible ceasefire. In particular, it was about the “1000 for 1000” exchange format. Ukraine is currently working on the details of this process. The exchange may take place in the near future, the minister noted.
