President Zelensky asks countries to train troops to replace Ukrainian soldiers
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called on the international community to prepare reserve brigades that can replace the Ukrainian military on the front lines. He stated this during a joint briefing with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Zelensky emphasized the exhaustion of the Ukrainian military due to the long war and called on other countries to prepare their forces that could replace the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at the front.
“Our message to all countries: prepare brigades, they can be a reserve and replace our guys who are tired. They can enter the battlefield in their place”, – said the Ukrainian leader.
This call contrasts with the previously expressed positions of NATO member countries, which have repeatedly assured that they have no intention of sending their troops to Ukraine during the conflict in order to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia. For example, French President Emmanuel Macron in January announced the possibility of sending French troops, but this initiative did not receive support from key Alliance countries such as the United States.
During the briefing, Zelenskyi also informed about North Korea’s training of 10,000 military personnel who may be sent to Ukraine. This information caused concern, as the participation of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory may further complicate the situation at the front.
