The Ministry of Defense strengthens social protection for military high school cadets

Ministry of Defense of Ukraine strengthens system of social protection of cadets of military universities. Starting from May 2025, cadets of higher military educational institutions, military educational units of the ZVO and institutions of professional advanced military education began to receive increased financial support.
This is stipulated by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 455, initiated by the Ministry of Defense. The document entered into force on March 1, 2025, so increased payments will also be charged for March and April.
The changes relate to the introduction of new tariff coefficients to official salaries, as well as allowances — in particular, for successful results of examination sessions. Financing is carried out at the expense of the state budget.
Before the introduction of the new rules, cadets received a monthly allowance ranging from UAH 2,880 to UAH 3,145. After the decree enters into force, the minimum amount of payments is approximately UAH 8,000, and the maximum amount is up to UAH 20,100 for cadets of graduation courses with excellent grades or those undergoing internship.
“This decision is a continuation of the state policy of guaranteeing proper social protection of cadets and an additional incentive for young people to acquire a military education.” Serhii Galimskyi, director of the Department of Social Security of the Ministry of Defense, said.
According to the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, cadets of higher military educational institutions are military personnel. They are fully provided for by the state and have the right to free education, accommodation, food, medical care, annual leave and other social guarantees provided for by law.
