Ukraine completed the assessment of the legislation as part of the first block of negotiations on joining the European Union. About this informs Government portal.

On November 12, a bilateral meeting between Ukraine and the European Commission was held in Luxembourg, dedicated to the 18th chapter, which covers the issue of statistics. This meeting became part of the official screening of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU norms and completed the Cluster 1 block of issues, which is the basis of the EU accession process.

During the two-day meeting, the delegation of Ukraine, the main part of which consisted of representatives of the State Statistics Service, presented the progress in the implementation of European legal acts in the field of state statistics to the European Commission and Eurostat experts. The delegation discussed the possibilities of expanding data sets that the State Statistics Service will transfer to Eurostat, as well as the ability of the Ukrainian statistical system to ensure high quality and methodological accuracy of data.

Deputy Prime Minister-Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Minister of Justice Olga Stefanishyna, who took part in the meeting online, expressed hope that the European Commission’s report on the results of the screening will allow opening this cluster as early as 2025.

It is noted that statistics are the basis for all spheres of the economy and society, as they provide reliable data that affect macroeconomic indicators and the quality of life of citizens.

Bilateral negotiations on the second “Internal Market” cluster will begin next week in Brussels, covering issues such as the free movement of goods, freedom of movement of workers, entrepreneurship, services, competition policy, corporate law and other important aspects of integration.
