The court arrested the people’s deputy in the case of embezzlement of Ukrzaliznytsia funds

On February 14, the High Anti-Corruption Court decided to take into custody the current People’s Deputy, who is suspected of organizing a scheme to embezzle more than 140 million hryvnias during the purchase of cables for JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”. About this informs SAP press office.
“On February 14, 2025, VAKS satisfied the request of NABU detectives, approved by the Acting Prosecutor General, to change the preventive measure against the current People’s Deputy, one of the organizers of the seizure of more than UAH 140 million during the purchase of cables of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
Considering the fact that the suspect did not pay the 100 million hryvnia bail set by the court, the prosecution appealed to the court to change the preventive measure from bail to detention with an alternative to bail., says the message.
The court, after hearing the arguments of the parties, partially granted this request and decided to take the suspect into custody for a period of 60 days, giving him the possibility of release on bail in the amount of 100 million hryvnias. According to the decision, the suspect was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.
Law enforcement officers do not disclose the name and surname of the suspect, but, according to Radio Svoboda, it is said about non-factional People’s Deputy Viktor Bondar. According to the investigation, the people’s deputy, using his influence, obstructed the businessman’s work in order to force him to join the illegal scheme. Later, he organized a criminal scheme to embezzle funds from “Ukrzaliznytsia” by supplying products at inflated prices.
