The Ministry of Education proposes to replace the BZVP for students with the discipline “Fundamentals of National Resistance”
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is initiating the replacement of basic military training (BZVP) in institutions of higher education with a new academic discipline – “Fundamentals of National Resistance”. It will cover building civil resistance skills and basic preparedness for various threats. The discipline will become mandatory for all male and female students from the second year. About this reported Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Mykhailo Vynnytskyi.
“Currently, draft law No. 13347 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which proposes to replace the course “Basic combined military training” (BZVP) in institutions of professional pre-university and higher education with the educational discipline “Fundamentals of national resistance”. – commented Vinnytskyi.
He noted that this discipline is planned as mandatory for the second year in colleges and universities. Unlike the current BZVP program, which provided for military training, assignment of the military accounting specialty “Shooter” and taking an oath (mandatory for boys and voluntary for girls), the new course has a different approach.
“It is not about military training in its traditional sense, but about the formation of students of the skills necessary for civil resistance and basic readiness for threats, which, unfortunately, remain relevant for every citizen of Ukraine.” – stressed the deputy minister.
According to him, the draft law focuses on such aspects as pre-medical assistance, basic theoretical knowledge on the handling of weapons, as well as familiarization with digital security and defense tools.
Field training, which was part of the BZVP, is planned to be replaced by short-term trips to training grounds to learn basic orientation and safety skills. Universities will cooperate with specific brigades or conduct practical classes on the basis of Centers of National Resistance.
“It is also important that for persons whose religious beliefs do not allow them to hold weapons in their hands, the possibility of passing the “Fundamentals of National Resistance” discipline is provided without involvement in fire training. The block of pre-medical assistance and psychological training will be strengthened for them.”, – Vinnytskyi emphasized.
