Italy will invest in the restoration and development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food concluded an agreement with the Italian Agency for the Development of Cooperation (AICS) and the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Research (CIHEAM) regarding investments in the development of the Ukrainian agricultural sector within the framework of the new Pro.UKR project. About this reported press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

The project will be implemented in the Odesa region, in particular, in the Bereziv, Rozdilnian and Odesa districts. Support will be provided to 16,200 small and medium-sized farms (approximately 48,000 people).

“More than 11 million euros will be directed to the development of irrigation infrastructure, support of cooperatives, provision of small farmers with equipment and integration of Ukrainian agribusiness into the European market. This is another step towards the effective recovery of Ukrainian agriculture and expansion of cooperation with the EU.” – said the Minister of Agricultural Policy Vitaliy Koval.

He emphasized that Italy produces a large number of ready-made products such as juice, pasta, wine and sweets, while Ukraine mostly exports grain and corn. The cost of one ton of Italian agricultural products is $2,670, and Ukrainian – only $315. In 2024, Ukraine exported agricultural products worth $24 billion, while Italy exported $70 billion. This emphasizes the importance of the development of the agro-processing industry for Ukraine.
