The Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the US Chargé d’Affaires to discuss support for Ukraine

On July 2, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiga, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine was induced US Chargé d’affaires John Hinkel. The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of military support from the United States and defense cooperation against the background of Russia’s growing aggression against Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariana Betsa thanked the US for its continued support since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, and emphasized the vital need for further supplies of defense aid, with special attention to the strengthening of Ukrainian air defenses. She emphasized that any delays in the provision of aid will only contribute to the continuation of the war on the part of Russia.

Maryana Betsa also reminded that Ukraine agreed to a full and unconditional ceasefire on March 11, while Russia continues air attacks on Ukrainian cities, killing civilians and offensive actions on the front. Ukraine supports peace initiatives and the US position on ending the war, stressing the need to compel Russia to make peace by strengthening Ukrainian defenses and increasing pressure on the aggressor.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the course of consultations on defense supplies and future contacts between the governments, which should contribute to finding joint solutions to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

We will remind, on July 1, the US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Elbridge Colby announced the suspension of the supply of missiles for the Patriot systems, high-precision artillery ammunition, drones and missiles for the F-16, explaining this by the excessive reduction of the Pentagon’s defense stocks.
