The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the countries of the world not to participate in the military parade on May 9 in Moscow

On May 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine appealed to the international community to refrain from participating in the military parade scheduled for May 9 in Moscow. Special emphasis is placed on countries that publicly declare a neutral position regarding the war waged by Russia against Ukraine. Corresponding statement made public on the official website of the department.

“Today, a cruel and unprovoked war of aggression is being waged against the Ukrainian people, who are one of the nations that won over Nazism and paid a terrible price for peace and freedom in Europe. In the course of this aggression, Russian soldiers committed hundreds of thousands of war crimes, killed 620 and injured almost 2 thousand, deported at least 20 thousand Ukrainian children.”, says the statement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine notes that the presence of foreign military personnel at the parade will be considered a departure from neutrality and will be interpreted as a demonstration of support for the aggressor state.

“To walk side by side with them is to share responsibility for the blood of murdered Ukrainian children, civilians and soldiers, and not to honor the victory over Nazism. In this way, Russia wants to whitewash its war crimes and justify aggression.” – emphasized in the department.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stressed that the participation of foreign military personnel in the May 9 parade in Moscow is absolutely unacceptable and will be perceived as an insult to the historical memory of the victory over Nazism, as well as to the feat of millions of Ukrainian front-line soldiers who fought for the liberation of Ukraine and Europe eighty years ago.

We will remind that on May 3, Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Ukraine respects the decision of the leaders who decide to visit Moscow, but he emphasized that on the day of the parade on May 9, the Ukrainian side is unable to guarantee the safety of world leaders in the capital of the Russian Federation.
