The Ministry of Justice plans to nationalize the assets of Yanukovych’s former security guard

The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine appealed to the High Anti-Corruption Court with a demand to confiscate the assets of the former head of the security service of the fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych. In the Office of the Prosecutor General reported, that the ex-employee is suspected of cooperation with Russia and illegal possession of weapons.

The assets that are planned to be nationalized include a hotel complex in Bukovel, cash, land plots, corporate rights of the company, several apartments and parking spaces in Kyiv, as well as a Mercedes-Benz GL 550 car and a trailer.

According to the investigation, after the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine, the former head of the security service illegally left the territories controlled by Ukraine and went to the enemy-occupied lands of Donetsk and Crimea. There he cooperated with his son, an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation, helping him to find pro-Ukrainian activists in the temporarily occupied territories. Later, he headed the security service of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region of Russia.

On the basis of the collected evidence, the Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit in court with the demand to collect all the assets belonging to it in favor of the state. Currently, the accused is wanted, and his activities are considered as aiding the Russian Federation.
