During January-May 2025, 1,086 people died as a result of traffic accidents in Ukraine, 45 of them were children. Another 10,990 people were injured. Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of road accidents with victims or victims increased by 1.4% to 8,865 cases. About this informs association “Ukravtoprom”.
The most common cause of fatal accidents was speeding, which claimed the lives of 589 people. The second place in the number of fatalities is occupied by exiting the oncoming lane not for the purpose of overtaking — 81 cases. The third reason was the carelessness of pedestrians who crossed the road in unspecified places — 61 people died. According to statistics, most accidents occur in the evening, between 16:00 and 19:00, and the most dangerous day of the week is Friday.
As a reminder, during 2024, 25,781 road accidents occurred in Ukraine, in which 3,202 people died, and another 32,023 were injured. In thousands of cases, the cause of accidents was the drivers being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The main factors of traffic accidents with serious consequences were speeding, violation of maneuvering rules and failure to observe the rules of crossing intersections.
The patrol police again launched 300 complexes of automatic recording of violations of traffic rules. For the year 2024, 4,361,914 resolutions were issued using these systems, while the police issued another 644,102 resolutions manually.
