Ukrainian carriers must return trucks from the EU by July 10: details

Ukrainian freight carriers operating in EU countries are required to return all their trucks to Ukraine by July 10. This is necessary for updating documents and marking of transport in accordance with the new requirements of “transport visa-free”.

About this reported Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Serhii Derkach.

New requirements for “transport visa-free”

From July 10, the new “transport visa-free” rules will come into full effect.

To meet the updated requirements, carriers must have the following documents:

  • Extract about obtaining a license in English;
  • Cargo documents (even for empty trucks);
  • Marking of transport according to new standards.
  • Ukraine agreed with the European Commission on a transition period for Ukrainian carriers so that they could adapt to the new rules.

Continuation of “transport visa-free” with conditions

On June 20, Ukraine and the EU signed an agreement on the continuation of the liberalization of freight transportation, but with some changes. In addition to the above-mentioned requirements for documents and labeling, the agreement provides for the creation of a special working group to monitor its implementation.

What is “transport visa-free”?

“Transport visa-free” is an agreement between Ukraine and the EU, which abolishes the need for Ukrainian carriers to obtain permits for bilateral and transit transportation to EU countries. The agreement was signed on June 29, 2022 and was repeatedly extended.

It is noted that the renewal of the agreement is aimed at combating fraud, forgery of documents and violations of road traffic safety. They also aim to ensure equal conditions of competition for carriers from Ukraine and the EU
