On the evening of May 6, Russian troops launched a powerful missile attack on the outskirts of Sumy, hitting civilian infrastructure. As a result of the attack, three people died: a six-year-old boy, a 20-year-old girl and a 41-year-old man. About this reported Secretary of Sumy City Council Artem Kobzar.
“According to the updated information, we have tragic consequences: – 3 people died: a girl – at the scene, a man and a boy – died in the hospital”, – noted Kobzar.
Goal OVA Oleg Grigorov clarified, that a six-year-old child, a 20-year-old girl and a 41-year-old man were killed as a result of a ballistic attack in the suburbs.
“Four children and four wounded adults are currently in medical facilities. Two are in an extremely serious condition.”, he added.
The attack happened around 17:35. Russian troops hit civilian objects on the outskirts of Sumy. Civilian infrastructure was damaged, the final consequences are being clarified. According to the State Emergency Service, 11 people were injured, including five children. A building that was not used for living was on fire, and separate foci of fires were recorded in the residential sector. In total, approximately 30 structures were damaged.
In the Sumy community, May 7 and 8, 2025 were declared days of mourning in connection with the Russian missile attack on the city’s suburbs. About this informs Sumy City Council.
“As a sign of mourning for the dead, the State Flags will be flown at half-mast on administrative buildings, buildings and structures of enterprises, institutions and organizations. Entertainment events on the territory of the community have been canceled, the sound of entertainment music in trade and public catering establishments, public transport is prohibited.” – informed the city council.
