On the night of November 17, Russia carried out a large-scale air attack on Ukraine, using various types of missiles and kamikaze drones. According to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the enemy fired several missiles and dozens of Shahed kamikaze drones. Ukrainian air defense was able to intercept a significant number of these attacking objects, which made it possible to protect important infrastructure objects.
Russia also launched cruise missiles from the sides of Tu-95MS strategic aircraft, and Kalibr launches were recorded from the Black Sea. The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces called on citizens to carefully monitor updates and observe safety measures.
At 5:42, the launch of cruise missiles from the sides of Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers was recorded. At this time, the enemy launched Kalibr missiles over the Black Sea. Also throughout the night in the airspace of Ukraine, groups of strike drones of the “Shakhed” type, which were launched in several waves, were recorded.
The explosions occurred in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kropyvnytskyi, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa. As a result of the attack, residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged in Mykolaiv Oblast, Cherkasy Oblast, as well as Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Khmelnytsky Oblasts. There are victims among the civilian population, and local authorities and rescue services quickly began to eliminate the consequences of the attack and provide assistance to the victims.
In Kyiv, a five-story residential building in the Pechersk district caught fire due to falling rocket fragments, as a result of which one person was injured. This was announced by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhii Popko. The Kyiv city military administration also reported that air defense was working in the capital. Residents were urged to stay in shelters and monitor updates from official sources, and an air alert was issued across the country.
Around 3:00 a.m., the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekhov, reported explosions in the city caused by the launch of guided aerial bombs in the direction of Kharkiv, urging residents to be careful.
In Mykolaiv around 04:40 there were explosions that hit the residential sector. As of 06:25, six people are known to be injured, including two children, and one dead woman. The information was confirmed by Mayor Oleksandr Sienkovych, who also reported on repeated explosions. Vitaliy Kim, the head of Mykolayivska OVA, noted that the emergency services provide assistance to the victims.
