The Russian Federation seeks to end the war by 2026 so as not to yield to the United States and China in the global confrontation: Main Intelligence Directorate

Russia is trying to end the war in Ukraine by 2026, so as not to give in to the US and China in the global confrontation. About this reported Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Major General Vadym Skibitskyi.

He noted that Moscow has already prepared a geopolitical forecast for the period 2026-2035 with an assessment of the consequences until 2045.

“The Russian Federation has clearly defined in these documents that the Ukrainian issue must be completed by 2026. Because if the war continues for another 5-10 years, the Russian Federation will never be able to catch up and become on the same level as the USA and China.”, – said the major general.

He also noted that Russia is considering 15 possible scenarios of future military conflicts, six of which concern northern Europe.

“Northern Europe understands, the Baltic countries understand. Poland understands. In Poland, there are only four scenarios of a possible military conflict. Poland currently understands that this is an immediate threat“, – noted Skibitsky.

He also emphasized the key role of Ukraine in building a new European security system:

“The role of our state in awareness and new approaches to the organization of the European security system is invaluable.”

We will remind that during the last month, Ukrainian and Russian representatives met separately with American officials to discuss the possibility of a temporary ceasefire. US President Donald Trump noted that Washington is seeing some progress in this direction.
