The Russian Ministry of Transport admitted that it was unable to stop the collapse at airports due to attacks by Ukrainian drones.

The Minister of Transport of Russia, Andrei Nikitin, admitted that he was unable to influence the situation at the airports of the Russian Federation, which once again stopped work due to the threat of attacks by Ukrainian drones.

As the government official noted, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation “will try to do something” in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense. According to him, the airports, which experienced a transport collapse for the fourth time this year last weekend, are “adjusting” to the emerging circumstances, providing passengers who are forced to stay in the terminals with food and places to rest.

“Now it’s a little better than it was in May. Colleagues are analyzing their work. And, I believe, in general, there is a dynamic. But in general, neither airports nor airlines can predict the closure of airports due to the announcement of the “Carpet” plan.” Nikitin said.

We will remind, on July 5 and 6, airports in the central part of Russia, in particular in Moscow and St. Petersburg, found themselves in conditions of transport collapse and had to cancel hundreds of flights due to the threat of drone attacks.

In the period from July 19 to 21, against the backdrop of an increase in the number of drone strikes, more than a thousand flights were delayed and canceled at Moscow airports. As the Association of Tour Operators of Russia reminded, this is already the fourth such incident at the capital’s airport hub since the beginning of May, when the peak tourist season began.
