The Supreme Court of Ukraine arrested in absentia a businesswoman involved in the case of purchasing eggs for 17 hryvnias for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The higher anti-corruption court decided to arrest in absentia the owner of two companies that supplied food products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, due to suspicion of involvement in a corruption scheme involving the purchase of eggs at a price of 17 hryvnias per piece. About this reported in the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen at the request of the NABU detectives, agreed with the SAP prosecutors. After the suspect is detained and brought to the pre-trial investigation body, the court will decide on the application of the selected preventive measure.
The SAP does not officially name the suspect, however information of the Anti-Corruption Center, it is about Tetyana Glynyana.
In April, NABU and SAP reported suspicions against Glynanya and several other persons in the case related to the embezzlement of over 733 million hryvnias during the procurement of food products for the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, she was declared wanted.
We will remind you that the scandal surrounding the procurement of products for the Armed Forces broke out in 2023 after the publication of the journalist and founder of the project “Our Money” Yuriy Nikolov in the publication “Mirror of the Week”. The article stated that the Ministry of Defense ordered eggs at 17 hryvnias per unit, while the retail price in Kyiv stores did not exceed 7 hryvnias, and potatoes were purchased at 22 hryvnias per kilogram, with a market value of 8–9 hryvnias.
After that, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense was summoned to a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence. On January 22, 2023, the Ministry of Defense stated that the dissemination of information about inflated prices has signs of manipulation and misleads the public.
Already on January 24, Deputy Minister of Defense Vyacheslav Shapovalov, who was responsible for the rear support of the Armed Forces, resigned. On February 2, 2023, the court took him into custody for two months with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 402.6 million hryvnias.
On February 2, 2024, the Ministry of Defense presented a new product procurement architecture and invited the state enterprise “State rear operator” to participate in tenders.
