The UN called the strike on Kryvyi Rih the most mass murder of children during the entire war
The Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih, which killed nine children, was the worst case of child killing since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. About this stated UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.
“It is an incredible horror – nine children died, most of them were playing in the park, when a combat weapon with fragments exploded above them. On a warm Friday evening in Kryvyi Rih, when families gathered near a playground, a restaurant and residential buildings, one explosion took the lives of 18 people.”, – emphasized Turk.
He noted that Russia’s use of explosive weapons in a densely populated area, where there was no obvious military presence, is a manifestation of “blatant disregard for the lives of the civilian population.”
Turk also commented on the statement of the Russian authorities about the alleged attack on the gathering of the Ukrainian military, emphasizing the absurdity of such a version. According to the UN, a forum of cosmetologists was held before the attack in a restaurant located near the site of the attack.
“Even if the Russian authorities had information about the possible presence of the military, the method and circumstances of the strike could be an indiscriminate attack,” – says the statement of the UN High Commissioner.
We will remind you that on April 4, Russian troops launched an attack on Kryvyi Rih, using a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead. As a result of the attack, 18 people died, including 9 children. April 6 has been declared the Day of Mourning for the victims of the missile strike in Ukraine.
