The UN has published new data on civilian casualties in Ukraine for August

In August of this year, Russia killed 184 Ukrainian civilians, another 856 people were injured. In addition to the loss of life, Russian attacks have caused severe damage to civilian property and critical infrastructure.

Such data are provided by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine. According to their report, August became the second deadliest month of 2024, second only to July.

Since August 26, as a result of Russian attacks, 64 civilians have died, and another 392 people have been injured.

“Powerful rockets and bombs have struck populated areas, killing and injuring civilians across the country. Targeted attacks on Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure have once again triggered prolonged nationwide blackouts, and recent attacks have destroyed or damaged hospitals, schools, supermarkets and a critical power plant infrastructure”, – noted the head of the MMPLU, Daniel Bell.
