Two months ago, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, during which the former US president and the current Republican candidate promised substantial support to Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader told about this in interview for CNN.
Zelensky noted that he still cannot understand exactly what Trump meant when he said he was ready to end the war in Ukraine within days, even before he could officially take office if elected.
“I can’t understand it today because I don’t know exactly what he means and what it means”, – said the Ukrainian president, adding that pre-election messages are sometimes not very real.
The President of Ukraine also admitted that some such promises may cause alarm, but during their conversation, Trump expressed his sincere support for Ukraine.
“He said that he supports us a lot, and we had a good conversation… and that he will give us a lot of support. He understands how difficult it is to survive during a war, and he will do everything to strengthen Ukraine.”, – assured the head of the Ukrainian state.
In addition, the president of Ukraine said that he plans to share the peace plan of Ukraine with the current president of the United States, Joe Biden. He also expressed readiness to discuss this plan with both candidates – Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Zelenskyi emphasized that he intends to present the “victory plan” to the US Congress as well, because the decisions of the Congress play a key role in supporting Ukraine. After that, the Ukrainian authorities will be ready to share this plan with the public.
