Julianne Smith, the US ambassador to NATO, in an interview with Politico stated that China is helping Russia achieve its military goals in Ukraine.
According to her, China supplies Russia with dual-purpose goods that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. This aid, according to Smith, played a “crucial role” in the fact that Russia was able to achieve some of its goals in the war.
U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken confirmed that the U.S. has expressed concerns about this to China. He said that he expects “constructive steps” from China.
“When it comes to China’s support of Russia’s military-industrial base, I can only say what I have expressed very clearly our concern and now it remains to be seen what action will follow that,” – said Blinken.
