The United States threatened Russia with responsibility for the breakdown of the truce in Ukraine
The United States will not allow bad faith negotiations to end the war or break the ceasefire agreements in Ukraine. About this stated US Ambassador to the UN Dorothy Shea during the UN Security Council meeting regarding the situation in Ukraine.
She expressed her condolences to the families of those killed in the missile attack on Kryvyi Rih and reminded that a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead was used in the attack. Shi noted that the United States has proposed a comprehensive cessation of hostilities between Kyiv and Moscow.
Ukraine agreed to this initiative, while Russia made demands for a ceasefire limited to energy infrastructure issues and the situation in the Black Sea. The Ukrainian side also agreed to these limited conditions. The ambassador stressed that peace is possible only if the agreements reached during the meeting in Riyadh are strictly followed by both sides — both Ukraine and Russia.
“We call on Russia and Ukraine to fulfill their obligations. The world is watching. We call on both sides to exercise restraint and demonstrate that their commitment to peace is real. In particular, we call on the Russian Federation to remember that strikes like the one in Kryvyi Rih and the execution of prisoners of war can harm peace efforts and all discussions dependent on them.” Dorothy Shea concluded.
