
On July 17, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the updated composition of the government headed by Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko. 253 People’s Deputies voted for the relevant decision. About this informsPeople’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Voting took place in the format of batch approval – when all candidates are approved at the same time, with the exception of the positions of prime minister, minister of defense and minister of foreign affairs, which are submitted by the president and considered separately by the parliament.
The new composition of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine:
- Mykhailo Fedorov – First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation
- Oleksiy Sobolev – Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture (formerly First Deputy Minister of Economy)
- Svitlana Grynchuk – Minister of Energy (before that she headed the Ministry of Environmental Protection)
- Denys Ulyutin – Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity (formerly First Deputy Minister of Finance)
- Herman Galushchenko – Minister of Justice (before that he headed the Ministry of Energy)
- Taras Kachka – Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration (formerly Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade Representative of Ukraine)
The following remained in their positions:
- Oleksiy Kuleba – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Territories
- Ihor Klymenko – Minister of Internal Affairs
- Viktor Lyashko – Minister of Health
- Serhiy Marchenko – Minister of Finance
- Natalya Kalmykova – Minister of Veterans Affairs
- Matviy Bidny – Minister of Youth and Sports
- Oksen Lisovyi – Minister of Education and Science
The government also reorganized a number of ministries. The Ministry of Defense was merged with the Ministry of Strategic Industries. The Ministries of Economy, Environmental Protection and Agrarian Policy were merged into one department. The Ministry of Social Policy has expanded its functions, and the powers of the Ministry of National Unity have been added to it. The position of Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers was abolished, and her powers were transferred to the Government Secretariat.
In a separate vote, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Andrii Sybiga to the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs. 271 people’s deputies voted for the relevant decision. Also, in a separate vote, the parliament approved Denys Shmygal as the Minister of Defense. 267 People’s Deputies voted for this decision.
