The Verkhovna Rada failed to vote to summon government officials for clarifications on the fossil agreement

The Verkhovna Rada could not make a decision on summoning the government officials involved in the negotiations regarding the agreement between Ukraine and the USA on rare earth metals. In particular, the People’s Deputies wanted to summon Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, reported co-chair of the “European Solidarity” faction Iryna Gerashchenko.

“Only 114 deputies supported the demand of “EU” and “Voice” to immediately summon to the Verkhovna Rada those representatives of the government who are negotiating the agreement on the subsoil. The Verkhovna Rada has the right to know what is happening with Ukrainian property.” – said Gerashchenko.

MP from “Golos” Yaroslav Zheleznyak added, that his proposal to listen to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyridenko was put to the vote twice in the parliament.

“But the coalition refuses to vote. Moreover, the argument is: “it’s very difficult for the government right now – don’t distract them”. – explained the People’s Deputy.

We will remind that on February 25, Ukraine and the United States agreed on the terms of the contract on minerals. Volodymyr Zelenskyi plans to visit Washington on February 28 to officially sign the agreement.
