The Verkhovna Rada supported the law on compensation for car insurance costs for veterans

On February 25, the Verkhovna Rada adopted as a basis the revised draft law 12295-d, which provides for changes to the Law “On mandatory civil liability insurance of owners of land vehicles” regarding compensation of expenses of certain categories of persons. 279 People’s Deputies voted for the relevant decision. About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The document stipulates that from January 1, 2025, during the period of martial law and during the year after its termination, combatants and persons with disabilities due to the war will receive compensation for the costs of insurance premiums under internal insurance contracts at the expense of the state budget.
In addition, there will be a permanent 50% discount on the insurance premium for war-disabled persons who drive their own car or transfer it to other beneficiaries, provided that the vehicle is not used for paid transport. This applies to cars with an engine capacity of up to 2500 cm³ or a power of up to 100 kW.
The main purpose of the draft law is to strengthen the social protection of combatants and persons with disabilities as a result of the war. For this purpose, compensation for the costs of insurance premiums is provided, as well as a temporary exemption from the obligation to conclude a compulsory insurance contract until June 30, 2025, which will help to avoid additional financial burden on families under martial law.
