According to the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovation (UKRNOIVI), 267,600 applications for trademark registration were submitted in Ukraine since 2015. Entrepreneurial activity, advertising, medical products and educational projects are of the greatest interest for registration. The leader among companies in terms of the number of submitted applications is “Roshen”, which submitted the most applications for trademarks. As informs Opendatabot, over the past 10 years, 267,692 applications for trademark registration were submitted in Ukraine.
“From 2015 to 2019, the number of applications increased annually. 2019 was a record year — 33,745 applications. However, with the onset of the pandemic, applications decreased by 17% — to 27,883 in 2020.”, analysts note.
With the onset of full-scale war, claims plummeted to 16,162 in 2022, the lowest in years. However, 2023 saw a resurgence of activity, and the number of applications increased to 25,000. In the first nine months of 2024, 18,008 applications have already been submitted.
In 2024, the largest number of applications for registration relate to advertising and business services — this is 37.4% of all submitted applications. Also popular are brands related to education and entertainment (13.9%), as well as pharmaceutical, medical and veterinary products (11.1%).
Among the companies that submitted the largest number of applications for registration, “Roshen” leads with 1,396 applications. Other active companies are “Obolon” (1043 applications) and “Rozetka.ua” (886 applications).
In 2024, the leaders in terms of the number of submitted applications were the companies “HGBET” with 76 applications, “Obolon” – 72 applications and “Pharmis LTD” with 71 applications.
