Missile attack on “Okhmatdyt”: the Prosecutor General’s Office called on the International Criminal Court to start an investigation against the Russian Federation

The head of the department, Andriy Kostin, said that the Ukrainian side is ready to provide all physical evidence.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin appealed to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open a case against Russia over the rocket attack on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv. About this informs Reuters.

“For the sake of international justice, cases such as the deliberate attack on the largest children’s hospital in Kyiv should be referred to the International Criminal Court” Kostin said.

He noted that the investigation of this strike could help establish a pattern of attacks that demonstrate that Russia is committing crimes against the civilian population in Ukraine.

Kostin emphasized Ukraine’s readiness to cooperate with the ICC, providing physical evidence and details of its own investigation into Russian crimes.

“A key element of criminal prosecution for crimes against humanity is the demonstration of systematic attacks by the occupiers on civilians. It is important to show that Russia itself is now a criminal state.”, he added.

We will remind you that on July 8, Russian troops launched a missile attack on several Ukrainian cities. In Kyiv, children’s hospital “Okhmatdit”, another hospital and a residential building came under fire. As a result of the attack, 33 people died, including 5 children. Another 121 people were injured, including 10 children aged 2 to 17.
