Trump confidently leads Harris in the polls: The Hill

Donald Trump has begun to significantly strengthen his position in the election race, while Kamala Harris has lost almost all of her lead over him. About this informs edition of The Hill.

As noted in the publication, Kamala Harris, although still a contender for the post of president, no longer has the advantage she gained at the beginning of her campaign. Her success at the Democratic National Convention and a successful debate against Trump last month initially boosted her approval ratings, but that lead has now all but disappeared.

According to a poll commissioned by The Hill, as of Friday, Trump leads in five of seven “swing” states that are crucial to the outcome of the election. At the beginning of October, Harris was ahead in four of those states, but now her position has deteriorated.

Overall, the publication estimates Harris’s chances of victory at 51%, while at the end of September this indicator was at the level of 56%. However, The Hill cautions that these changes do not necessarily reflect a significant decrease in the Democrat’s chances of victory, since the gap between the candidates has always been small.

“Changes of one or two percent can be just statistical ‘noise’ and not evidence of real changes in voter sentiment.”, says the article.

Reuters/Ipsos previously reported that Harris was leading Trump by a slim three percentage points: 46% to 43%.

It will be recalled that the US presidential election will be held on November 5, and it was initially expected that it would be a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who were already competing for the presidency in 2020.
