In Japan, a humanoid robot was put behind the wheel of a car (video)

Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo taught a humanoid robot named Musashi to drive a small electric car. The robot is already able to turn at the intersection, following the traffic lights, but it does so very slowly and carefully.

Musashi is equipped with two cameras that allow him to “see” the road and side mirrors. It can also independently turn the ignition key, press the pedals and turn on the turn signals.
However, it is currently difficult for the work to maintain a steady speed and turn smoothly. For example, during one of the experiments, Mousasi took about two minutes to make a turn because he did not press the gas pedal.
The developers admit that their creation is still far from an experienced driver, but they consider it an important step in the development of robotics and autonomous transport. They plan to improve Musashi and create a new generation of robot drivers that can navigate the roads safely and efficiently.
