Trump expressed his intention to buy the Gaza Strip

US President Donald Trump has announced that he intends to purchase Gaza and distribute control over it to Middle Eastern states to rebuild parts of the war-torn territory. About this informs Reuters.

He emphasized that the US must maintain control over this territory to prevent Hamas from returning:

“I want to buy and own Gaza. As for our rebuilding, we can give it to other states in the Middle East to rebuild parts of it, other people can do it under our patronage. But we are committed to owning it, holding it and ensuring that Hamas does not come back. There is no going back. This place must be demolished. The rest will be demolished. Everything will be demolished.

In the context of this initiative, Trump also expressed his readiness to consider the issue of allowing Palestinian refugees to enter the United States, noting that such requests will be considered on an individual basis.

Trump’s remarks provoked a sharp reaction from Hamas. A member of the Politburo, Ezzat el-Rashk, rejected the possibility of implementing such a plan, stressing that Gaza is part of the Palestinian territory that “cannot be bought and sold.” Saudi Arabia, like many other world leaders, sharply condemned this initiative.

Jordan’s King Abdullah said he intended to warn Trump during a meeting with Trump scheduled for February 11 in Washington that the proposal “is a recipe for radicalism that will spread chaos in the Middle East and jeopardize the kingdom’s peace with Israel.”
