Trump threatens to stop aid to Jordan and Egypt if they don’t accept the Palestinians

US President Donald Trump has said he will consider ending financial aid to Jordan and Egypt if they do not agree to accept Palestinians as part of a US plan to take control of the Gaza Strip. About this informs The Hill.

Jordan and Egypt, the main recipients of US military and economic aid, have previously rejected any offers to resettle Palestinians on their territory. However, Trump said that in this case, US support could be at risk.

“If they don’t agree, I’d probably refuse to help”, he said.

Recently, Trump has been increasingly considering the possibility of forcibly relocating about two million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip and establishing US control over the territory. In his opinion, after the reconstruction of Gaza, the Palestinians “will not have the right to return”, so they will have to stay in the countries of the Middle East.

Speaking about the possible directions of resettlement, Trump said:

“I think I could make a deal with Jordan. I think I could make a deal with Egypt.”
