US President Donald Trump stated, that tariff increases for Canada, Mexico and China could cause temporary hardship for Americans. But, in his opinion, “it’s worth the price.”
According to him, these countries and many others “have been robbing the United States for decades – both in the field of trade and through crime and the flow of poisonous drugs that flow freely into America.”
Trump also criticized the “tariff lobby”, accusing it of attacking his economic policies. In particular, he mentioned the media “The Wall Street Journal”. He emphasized that the USA is no longer going to be a “stupid country”.
“Make your product in the USA and there will be no tariffs! Why should the United States lose trillions of dollars subsidizing other countries and why should those other countries pay a fraction of what US citizens pay for drugs and pharmaceuticals, for example?” – said Trump.
He stressed that it would make America great:
“Will it hurt a little? Yes, maybe (and maybe not). But we will make America great again, and it will all be worth the price. We are a country now run with common sense – and the results will be amazing!”.
