Two teachers from the Kharkiv region entered the top ten in Ukraine

Two teachers from the Kharkiv region entered the top 10 best teachers of Ukraine according to the Global Teacher Prize Ukraine 2024, informs “Osvitoria Media”.

Among the finalists are Vladyslav Akymenko from Lozova and Vladyslav Krongauz from Kharkiv.

Vladyslav Akymenko teaches history and geography to students of grades 5-9 at Loziv Lyceum No. 1. He posted a sign on his office door that read, “You’re Allowed to Be Yourself,” emphasizing the importance of students’ authenticity and their ability to learn from mistakes and express themselves freely. His teaching methods include lessons on a deserted island, sea battles and quests, which makes the learning process interesting and exciting. He also worked with children who were returned after forced deportation to the Russian Federation, and initiated the creation of an online school for Lozova’s students.

Vladislav Krongauz — history teacher of Kharkiv Lyceum No. 3. His students achieve high results in intellectual contests, creative projects and competitions of the Small Academy of Sciences. He supports his students outside the classroom, helping talented children find grants and opportunities for further development.

The winner of the award will be announced on October 5, and he will receive an award in the amount of UAH 1 million.

The Global Teacher Prize is an annual international award given to the best teacher in the world since 2015. It is called the unofficial “Nobel Prize for teachers”. The Ukrainian version of this award — Global Teacher Prize Ukraine — was founded in 2017.

In 2023, representatives of the Kharkiv region were also among the winners. Viktoriya Dushyna, an educator from Kharkiv, won in the “Preschool education” nomination, and Larisa Fesenko, director and English teacher of the Forestry Lyceum from the village of Lisova Stinka, Kupyan district, won in the “Indomitability” nomination.
