UAH 1.5 billion for the telethon, expenses are not planned for the elections: what was included in the draft State Budget-2025
The day before, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft law “On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2025”. The document was prepared taking into account the projected growth of the national GDP in 2024 by 3.5%, and in 2025 by 2.7%. The draft state budget has not yet been made public, but its key provisions are made public People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
In the budget for 2025, it is planned to allocate 1.5 billion hryvnias for the telethon
The Verkhovna Rada can allocate 1.6 billion hryvnias from the state budget for 2025 to finance the TV channel “Rada” and the telethon. According to People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak, 1.5 billion hryvnias have been earmarked for the Yedyni Novyni marathon, and another 78.2 million hryvnias for the Rada TV channel.
“Expenditures on the Rada TV channel have been reduced, but this is not enough. Next year, UAH 78.2 million is planned to be spent on it, which is less than in the previous year (UAH 198 million was allocated), but twice as much as before the OP took over the channel. Just like last year, UAH 1.5 billion will be spent on it.” – Zheleznyak wrote.
The budget did not plan expenses for holding elections
“The budget for 2025 does not (yet) provide for funds for elections. CEC expenditures remain almost at this year’s level, even slightly reduced.” – noted the People’s Deputy.
At the same time, the deputies for the third time approved the provision that was also in the previous state budgets:
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, together with the Central Election Commission, after the end or abolition of martial law in Ukraine, will submit to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for consideration proposals for amendments to the State Budget in terms of forecasting expenses for the preparation and holding of regular elections of the President of Ukraine, people’s deputies and local elections.
Cashback costs are not provided
“Frankly speaking, it is a pleasant surprise that the budget for next year does not include a populist idea with cashback.” Zheleznyak added.
According to him, the program simply disappeared.
“Supporting domestic demand for domestic goods and services”, for which UAH 3 billion will be spent this year, was rejected. I think they’ll still want to bring this program back or include it later, but for now, yes.” – noted the deputy.
What else is known about the budget for 2025
In the state budget of Ukraine for 2025, the exchange rate of the hryvnia is set at the level of 45 hryvnias/dollar.
Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the government approved the draft state budget for 2025. According to him, it is expected that revenues will amount to UAH 2 trillion, and expenses – UAH 3.6 trillion.
When forming the current military budget of Ukraine, the IMF forecast was taken into account, according to which the end of the war was expected by the summer of 2024. Currently, the military budget of Ukraine needs additional funding.
