UK topped the ranking for the number of illegal migrants in Europe: Telegraph

In Great Britain, the number of illegal migrants exceeds the indicators of any other country in Europe. About this reported newspaper The Daily Telegraph, referring to the research data of Oxford University experts.
According to the results of the study, up to 745 thousand illegal migrants live on the territory of the United Kingdom. Germany, which took second place, has up to 700,000 illegals, while in France this figure is around 300,000.
Since the beginning of 2024, 26,600 illegal migrants have arrived in Great Britain on inflatable boats across the English Channel, which is 5% more than in the same period of 2023. Only on October 5, 973 people entered the country illegally, which was a record daily figure for this year, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. Four people also tragically lost their lives that day.
According to the study, the 745,000 illegal migrants include foreigners who have overstayed their visas, asylum seekers who have been refused protection but have not left the country, and migrants who have crossed the English Channel in small boats.
The problem of illegal immigration in Britain worsened after the country left the European Union, although it was the control over migration that was one of the key topics of Brexit. Since 2018, about 130,000 people have entered the country illegally through the English Channel. The Labor Party government, formed after the parliamentary elections on July 4, promised to intensify cooperation with EU states to fight the flow of illegal migrants to Britain.
