Ukraine and Japan signed a bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of information security

On November 16, Ukraine and Japan signed a new agreement on cooperation in the field of information security. About this reported the Prime Minister of Ukraine after meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeshi Iwaya.
During the negotiations, the parties also discussed the general prospects of Ukrainian-Japanese cooperation, emphasizing the significant amount of aid to Ukraine from Japan, which has currently reached 12.1 billion dollars. The support of the energy sector is especially important for Ukraine: Japan has already transferred equipment for the needs of the industry, and Kyiv expects further assistance.
Another priority of cooperation is humanitarian demining. The Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude for demining equipment, vehicles and training of emergency services specialists financed by Japan. In addition, Japan provides Ukraine with direct budget support, in particular, it plans to allocate $3 billion using frozen Russian assets as part of the G7 initiative.
The parties also discussed the possibility of strengthening sanctions against Russia and emphasized the importance of supporting the recovery of Ukraine by both the public and private sectors. Takeshi Iwaya assured that Japan will continue to support Ukraine at all levels.
“We thank the Government and people of Japan for their great help and look forward to the further development of our cooperation“, the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted.
