Ukrainians purchased almost 215 thousand publications through the eBook program

During the first three months from the start of the eKnyga program, more than 317,000 Ukrainians took advantage of the opportunity to purchase books at state expense. They spent 68 million hryvnias on the purchase of 214,978 editions, another 23 million remain on accounts and have not yet been used. About this reported Ukrainian Book Institute.
The “eBook” state support program started in December 2024. According to the results of the first quarter, it became known that a total of 317,334 young Ukrainians used it. According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, 64.52% of users are women, 34.48% are men.
The main part of purchases – 66.58% – was made through online bookstores. 33.42% of all books were purchased in stationary stores. Of the total volume of purchased copies, 3135 are e-books.
Among literary preferences, the works of foreign authors predominate — they make up 88% of the total number of purchased books. Romantic and young-adult genres became the most popular. Volodymyr Stanchyshyn’s book “Walls in my head. Living with anxiety and depression” was among the top ten Ukrainian writers. The works of Illarion Pavlyuk and Andriy Semyankiv also made it to the top 50.

We would like to remind you that the eKnyga program provides state support for citizens of Ukraine who have reached the age of 18. During the year, they have the opportunity to receive financial assistance from the state for the purchase of books in the amount of 908.4 hryvnias. These funds are available for use within three months and can be used exclusively for the purchase of paper, electronic or audio books in the Ukrainian language at bookstores and publishing houses participating in the program.
