Ukraine and Russia held another round of prisoner exchange

Ukraine and Russia conducted another exchange of prisoners. It was possible to release severely wounded and wounded soldiers from certain categories agreed upon at the negotiations in Istanbul on June 2. About this reported President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
“We are continuing the return of our people, which was agreed upon in Istanbul. Today is the first stage of the return of our seriously wounded and wounded soldiers from Russian captivity. They all need immediate medical assistance. This is an important humanitarian act.”, – said Zelensky.
As clarified at the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, servicemen of the Armed Forces returned to their homeland, in particular representatives of the Naval Forces, Ground Forces, TrO, DSH, SBS, Border Service, National Guard and State Special Transport Service. Among those released are defenders of Mariupol, who were held captive for more than three years. In addition to soldiers and sergeants, officers were also freed.
All those released have severe injuries and serious illnesses: amputations, visual impairments, abscesses, infections, injuries, shrapnel injuries, and chronic illnesses. Some of the freed have been diagnosed with hepatitis and tuberculosis.
Returned defenders will be sent to medical institutions for a full examination, further treatment and rehabilitation. All of them will receive the necessary assistance, their documents will be restored, and financial support will be paid during their time in captivity.
