Ukraine is considering the possibility of introducing electronic combat orders: what is known

In Ukraine, it is planned to introduce electronic combat orders for military personnel, however, to implement this project, it is necessary to create military registers and ensure reliable and secure data exchange between different levels of secrecy. Kateryna Chernogorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, told about this interview ArmyInform.
She noted that the Ministry of Defense is actively working on the digitalization of the army, but the implementation of such solutions requires a carefully thought-out system architecture that will ensure stable operation.
The Deputy Minister of Defense explained that the implementation of electronic combat orders requires the creation of a single register of all military personnel, as well as ensuring the secure exchange of information between different levels of access and secrecy.
“This is a difficult task from both an organizational and a technological point of view. Only after these issues are properly resolved, we will be able to fully move to the digitalization of combat orders.” – emphasized Chernogorenko.
At the same time, other digital solutions for the military are already being implemented in Ukraine. For example, on August 8, a new “Army +” application was launched, which enables military personnel to send electronic reports to their commanders.
The functionality of the portal includes:
- provision of electronic public services using data from state electronic resources;
- submission of applications, electronic reports and other appeals;
- access to information from state electronic resources through a personal account;
- formation and review of information contained in military documents;
- hosting multimedia content, conducting surveys and tests;
- broadcasting of TV and radio programs.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, also announced that the functionality of “Army +” will be expanded in the future. It is planned to add courses, training programs for fighters, as well as create secure chats for the military, which will contribute to the improvement of communications and personnel development.
