Ukraine plans to request Bogolyubov’s extradition

Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine prepares request for the extradition of businessman and president of the Jewish community of Dnipro Gennadiy Bogolyubov. The State Bureau of Investigation suspects him of illegally crossing the state border.

According to the information provided by the Prosecutor General’s Office, the requirements of Article 575 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, which regulates the preparation of extradition requests, are currently being met. The details of the pre-trial investigation are not disclosed due to the restrictions provided for in Article 222 of the Criminal Code.

According to Article 575 of the Criminal Procedure Code, a request for extradition of a person abroad is made in writing and must contain information about the accused, the circumstances of the crime and his legal qualifications. Such motions are prepared by investigators, prosecutors or courts that are considering the case or have passed a sentence.

We will remind that earlier the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv made a decision on the arrest of Gennady Bogolyubov, who is currently wanted internationally. According to the SBI, on June 24 he illegally left Ukraine by train Kyiv — Khelm, accompanied by a close relative. At the same time, it was established that the oligarch did not cross the border using his passport: he left on the documents of another citizen, which are invalid. Their real owner is in Ukraine.
