Ukraine will create a Center for Recruiting Foreigners: the Verkhovna Rada supported the draft law

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the first reading draft law No. 12023, which makes changes to the procedure for military service under contract for foreigners and stateless persons. 278 elected representatives voted for this decision, reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

The main goal of the draft law is to create a Center for Recruiting Foreigners, which will ensure the involvement of foreign citizens in military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The main provisions of the draft law:

The center for recruiting foreigners will be responsible for organizing the reception of foreigners and stateless persons for contract service in the Armed Forces. The approval of provisions on its functioning is within the competence of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The center will conduct comprehensive checks of candidates, which will include:

  • verification of the legality of a foreigner’s stay on the territory of Ukraine.
  • assessment of the presence of administrative or criminal offenses.
  • verification of possible connections with foreign special services and subversive activities.
  • other factors that may prevent admission to military service.

Today, thousands of foreigners have already joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, supporting the country in the fight against Russian aggression. They protect not only Ukrainians, but also fight against occupiers who also threaten their own states.
