Ukraine receives $300 million soft loan from Canada

On October 17, Ukraine received another tranche of 400 million Canadian dollars (about 300 million US dollars) from the Canadian government. This is part of the budget support that Canada has provided since the start of the full-scale war. In total, the amount of aid has already reached 5.4 billion US dollars. About this reported Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
Funds are provided on preferential terms: the repayment period is 10 years, the annual interest rate is 1.5%, and the grace period is 4.5 years.
Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko noted that Canada is among the top five donors of budget support to Ukraine from February 2022. This assistance is an important factor in maintaining the country’s financial stability and ensuring key expenditures of the state budget.
It will be recalled that on October 11, an additional agreement was signed between Ukraine and Canada to provide another loan in the amount of 400 million Canadian dollars.
In addition, Canada plans to transfer 137.2 million euros to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) over five years for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
In March of this year, Ukraine also received 2 billion Canadian dollars from Canada, which is approximately 1.5 billion US dollars.
