Ukraine to Begin Consultations with U.S. to Restore USAID Funding as Soon as Possible

In the near future, Ukraine plans to start consultations with American partners regarding the restoration of funding for USAID humanitarian projects. About this reported Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Head of the Office of the President.

“Regarding the suspension of USAID funding. Yes, this is unexpected and unpleasant news: both for the authorities and for the public sector. But this is not the first and not the last test that we have to overcome.” – the message says.

Vereshchuk emphasized that she is dealing with humanitarian response issues, and the 90-day pause from a key donor is troubling.

“But I am sure that we will stabilize everything on the humanitarian side. In the near future, we will start substantive consultations with our American partners with the aim of the fastest continuation of funding for humanitarian response projects in Ukraine. While we are stabilizing the situation, the project teams need to keep people and work.” – she concluded.

We will remind you that USAID supports such areas as rebuilding schools, medical services, and repairing critical energy infrastructure. Since the start of the full-scale war, the agency has allocated $2.6 billion to Ukraine for humanitarian needs, $5 billion for development and $30 billion in direct budget support.
