Ukraine will have to cede its territories to the Russian Federation: Voltz

US President’s National Security Adviser Mike Waltz said that in order to achieve a long-term peace agreement, Ukraine will have to cede part of its territory, particularly in Donbas. About this informs Fox News.
Earlier, Donald Trump’s representatives already hinted that Ukraine should not expect to return to the borders of 1991 as part of peace negotiations, which actually excludes the issue of Crimea. At the same time, it is not yet clear which part of Donbas can be the subject of concessions, since Russia claims more territories than it currently controls.
During the interview, the journalist asked Mike Waltz:
“I would assume that Ukraine will not become part of NATO, and that some territories – perhaps, in particular, the Donbas or areas inhabited by Russians – will go to Putin in the settlement process. Am I wrong in my guess?”
To which Waltz replied:
“We are discussing all these things with both sides. We are having these discussions with our colleagues, with the Russians. We are also having these discussions with our Ukrainian colleagues, together with President Trump, the main participant in the agreement, which intends to end this war.”
He also noted that Trump repeatedly told Volodymyr Zelensky that he “does not have trump cards” in negotiations to end the war started by Russia three years ago. According to Waltz, the US president is conducting direct negotiations with Vladimir Putin.
“Of course, both sides will have their demands, and of course both sides will have to make certain compromises, there’s a kind of shuttle diplomacy going on.” he added.
