Ukrainian banks have increased their profits by 25% since the beginning of the year (infographic)

Privatbank is the leader among Ukrainian banks, having earned UAH 23.96 billion, which is a third of the total profit of all banks.

During the first five months of 2024, Ukrainian banks experienced a significant increase in profit after tax, earning almost UAH 68 billion. This is 27% more compared to the same period last year, informs The opendatabase.

According to the data, since the beginning of 2024, 63 Ukrainian banks have made a profit of UAH 67.97 billion after paying taxes, which is a quarter more than in the corresponding period last year. Income tax amounted to UAH 16.5 billion, which is 1.6 times more than last year.

Among 63 banks, only 7 suffered losses, losing a total of UAH 131.83 million.

85% of the total profit is accounted for by the ten most profitable banks, including four state-owned, four foreign and two private.

State banks earned UAH 41.4 billion in total profit. The exception was the First Investment Bank, which suffered losses in the amount of UAH 16.5 million.

Privatbank remains the leader among Ukrainian banks, having earned UAH 23.96 billion, which is a third of the total profit of all banks. However, this indicator is 6% less compared to the previous year. Privatbank also paid the most taxes — UAH 8.04 billion.

Banks with foreign capital earned UAH 16.23 billion, which is 24% of the total profit of all Ukrainian banks. Raiffeisen Bank became the leader of this group, having received almost UAH 4 billion in profit, which is 22% more compared to last year. Credit Agricole Bank showed the largest increase in profit among foreign banks, earning 5 times more — UAH 3.12 billion.

Banks with private capital received UAH 10.42 billion in profit, which is almost 1.5 times more compared to the previous year. PUIB became the leader among them, earning UAH 3.2 billion, which is 7% more compared to last year. Together with Universal Bank (Monobank), they received half of the profit of this group — UAH 5.44 billion. MTB Bank showed the largest increase in profit among all Ukrainian banks, increasing it by 13.6 times to UAH 436.77 million.

In the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainian banks earned UAH 40.5 billion. Despite the increase in taxation, banks managed to earn 19% more compared to the same period last year.
