Ukrainians warned about a new scheme to ‘collect’ money: details from the Ministry of Internal Affairs

A new fraud scheme has appeared in Ukraine, connected with the “recovery” of funds allegedly through the court. This is reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Fraudsters send letters to users’ e-mail boxes that look like official notices from the commercial courts of certain regions. In such letters, they claim the existence of a “decision” regarding the collection of funds.
How scammers work
- use the gov.ua domain to give their letters the appearance of official correspondence, indicating the real names of individual entrepreneurs (PEOs) and their addresses.
- attach PDF files to emails that actually contain spyware.
- after opening such a file, they get remote access to the user’s device, which allows them to steal confidential information.
How to protect yourself from fraudsters
- do not use public mail services for business purposes.
- Do not open attachments from suspicious or unknown emails.
- if you receive such an email, simply delete it without opening the files.
Fraudsters in war conditions
During the war in Ukraine, the activity of fraudsters increased significantly. In particular, they often use false promises of financial assistance from international organizations or the government of Ukraine. You should always be careful and not trust dubious “promotions” and offers.
